Being the last Tuesday of the month, the led ride ended at Denchworth, where the peacock awaited us outside the Fox, and several of us went in for refreshment, and the chance to chat with some of the riders from the 1* and 2* options. A perfect evening!

Start Location:Old Mill Hall |
Description:A scenic loop of the Vale to Charney Bassett and Lyford via Ock bridge (12 miles). It is also the first of our monthly summer pub nights with an optional stop at the Fox in Denchworth towards the end of the ride. It can get cold in the lanes on April evenings, so please wrap up; gloves recommended. Lights required if cycling home later from the Fox.Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Our leisurely and sociable Tuesday evening 1* rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of 10-15 miles (16-24km) at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph (13-16kph), following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

Report:A lovely evening's ride in beautiful warm weather. We set off as 5 riders but were joined at Denchworth by Anke who was delayed at home but managed to catch up the 1* ride.We went out to Charney Bassett and turned down the road north of Charney past Sheep Wash farm. We then turned in the direction of Hanney but turned off to Lyford and came back to Denchworth that way. Four of the riders returned to Grove and Anke and myself joined the riders in the pub from the other two rides for our first pub night of the season. A great night to be out on our bikes ![]()
