Report:Another lovely day for a ride and, fortunately, cooler than of late. Richard decided to join us at the start to test ride his vintage 1961 Claud Butler prior to the Benson Veteran Cycle Rally on Sunday (6th July). Our route took us off-road on a couple of bridleways that were new to several riders. First we turned off the Charney Basset to Gainfield road onto the bridleway to Pusey. Everyone seemed to enjoy the grassy path through the wood and then the short stretch through the crops across the field. We stopped on the grass the other side for tree (Scots pine) and crop identification (flax and barley) before continuing on. After Pusey we joined the B-road up to the A420, and continued to Hinton Waldrist After a rest stop by the church, we took the bridleway across to Longworth, with lovely views northwards across the Thames valley , emerging by Longworth Manor. From there it was a short ride via the bridleway bridge to Southmoor. We arrived at Munch just in time to catch the 2* group before they set off back to Grove and took over picnic tables in the sunshine for our refreshments. We returned to Grove via West Hanney and Denchworth on road, getting back just before 1pm. A lovely ride to lead and thanks everyone for your good company. | ||
