CANCELLED 1* Monthly Half-Day Ride - Abingdon Special 1*
Leader:
Steve Swanton
Start Time:
2:00 pm
Start Location:
Culham Lock car park, OX14 4NE
Description:
Ride postponed to another day as heavy rain forecast between 1 and 3pm.
An awayday ride this month in the area around Abingdon. We'll start from the small car park just on the north side of Culham Lock - please beware of height restriction barrier at the entrance.

We'll head into Abingdon through Culham village then join NCN5 by the Guildhall (possible pick-up point - let me know) and continue past Radley Lakes to Radley. We'll climb slowly over to Sunningwell then loop out to Cothill and Gossard's Ford before re-entering town from Shippon. After weaving our way through Albert Park, we'll stop for refreshments at the wonderful Riverside Cafe.

After tea, we'll head out along the river and return to the lock via Peep O'Day Lane and Sutton Courtenay. A round trip of 18 miles. Expect to be back there by about 5pm.

If you fancy a longer ride, why not cycle over to join us (10 miles by the shortest route from Grove).

Please let me know if you are planning to come.

Our regular social and family ride on the third Saturday of the month, usually with a cafe stop. We cover 16-32km (10-20 miles) at a leisurely pace of 13-16km/h (8-10mph), tackling the occasional hill (nothing too long) and easy off-road track (conditions permitting).
