Description:A ride out to Childrey for refreshments at the village stores. We'll head out through Stockham to the Letcombes before dropping into Childrey. We'll return through the vale via Challow Station and Goosey. 14 miles.Please let me know if you are planning to come. Easy sociable ride of 24-32 km (15-20 miles) at a pace of 14-17km/h (9-11 mph). |

A warm welcome to Tim's daughter Vicky on her first ride with the club.Six of us set off from OMH to be joined by Mila and Tim W in Wantage as we headed out to the Letcombes. Once clear of Ickleton Road, we regrouped in the usual place off the Letcombe Road by the solar farm. Thereafter, it was a very pleasant ride through the lanes, with the trees and hedges starting to show more autumnal tints. Everyone climbed Holborn Hill at their own pace and we regrouped at the top to catch our breath and enjoy the views (and natter). We were soon enjoying the descent into Childrey before stopping at the village shop. We had a most convivial refreshment break with friendly service and excellent pastries. After our stop, there was further descending into the Vale to enjoy before a short stretch of the A417 to Goosey. After Goosey, we said goodbye to Tim and Vicky, who were cycling back to Hanney via Charney Bassett to avoid the roadworks on the Denchworth to Hanney road. The rest of us continued en route through Denchworth, back in Grove just after 12:30. Thanks everyone for your good company on a most enjoyable ride to lead. | ||

Sadly, Des could not join the ride due to a mismatch of pedals and shoes. We collected Anke In Letcombe Regis to boost the numbers back up to 8.Sweeping duties were undertaken by Barry, unless he was trying out his down hill prowess...... Goodies Café staff at Lambourn proved to be as cheery and efficient as ever. The Seven Barrows return route was a pleasure with a southerly tailwind. | ||
