| 2* Saturday Half Day Ride | 2* |
|---|
Leader:John Tranter |
Start Time:9:30 am |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Note the 9.30 start to beat the heat. Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Half day ride (45-55km / 30-40 miles), with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). I thought it would be fun to lead a 2* road ride in the same vicinity of the off-road ride (Lambourn valley) and see if we bump into each other. Possibly at Priscilla's, the wonderful cafe stop in East Garston. Once Hackpen Hill is conquered, there are a few more gentle climbs to get us back towards home before the fun swoop down Chain Hill. This will be a leisurely 30 mile ride in a lovely area. Option to join the ride in Wantage if that is easier. |

Report:It was a lovely morning and the early start helped avoid the peak sun later. A great group rode well together and we made good time up Hackpen Hill, down to Lambourn and along the river valley to Priscilla's in East Gaston. Service and quality there was as good as ever. We sadly didn't quite manage to overlap with the off-road group, but we did sit at their reserved table! We then enjoyed a pleasant tailwind to Boxford, over the downs and the final swoop down Chain Hill. Thanks to all for a fun morning out. | ||
