Report:A select group of 4 riders on this week's Thursday 1*. Great to catch up with Sarah and hear about her busy summer and eclipse watching in Spain. It was an initially sunny but cool morning with a nagging westerly breeze. We soon warmed up in the sunshine and with the wind behind us we made good time to Lightbox. We were able to enjoy our beverages sitting outside in the sunshine, before more cloudy weather rolled in for our return. As we entered the Harwell site, we could see that the reclamation of the land once occupied by the Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant and nearby sewage works is nearly complete, with bulldozers levelling out fresh soil infill. We met an Inspector of the works as we left site, who gave us the good news that the bridleway through the works area, which has been closed for many years during decommissioning, will reopen tomorrow It was distinctly cooler cycling back into the wind. The lesser Bridge of Doom was fun as ever (despite the stony approach) and we were soon back on tarmac through Ardington. As Rob and Sarah were heading back through Wantage, we all continued to the end of the Sustrans route where we ended the ride and went our various ways. Thanks all for your company on an enjoyable morning's ride. | ||

|---|
Leader:Eddie Little |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:Ridgeway Cycles |
Description:Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Off-road ride around local tracks, usually about 10 - 15 miles. Knobbly tyres required and good lights when it gets dark (‘get you home’ lights in Spring/Autumn). We are keen to welcome new riders and can make recommendations or have spare lights to borrow if you let us know. Dark, cold and wet - we’ll ride in any two. But please let us know if you are coming so we can tell you if we decide to cancel due to bad weather or other reasons. |

Riders:Alex HalesAndrew Wornham Eddie Little James Bosley James Pearson Jan McCabe Jonny Kowal Luc Binet Simon Atkin Tim Waite Riders = 10 Weather:Report:An excellent turnout of ten riders for this evening ride. It was great to welcome Jan on her first ride with us. It was also nice to welcome back Luc who had been away at University. Even with the threatening dark clouds looming overhead, we managed to stay dry. Towards the end of the ride, lights were definitely required. The ten mile route proved to be the perfect distance, getting us back to Wantage for 07:40pm. A very pleasant ride with good company. As always, many thanks to James for sweeping and for showing us a new to me trail which kept us completely off road. | ||
