Eight riders faced a fairly strong headwind up to Lambourn, where we met up with Mavis, Lou and Sue for the rest of the ride to Ashdown House. Post Lambourn the tandem broke down (terminally until a spare part - some essential metal bit or other - is purchased) and Steve B and Pat returned to Lambourn to collect another couple of bike from Pat's collection. This meant that they were unable to tour the house and go up on the roof unlike the rest of us lucky ones! Robert appeared as is his way and joined us for the tour and picnic.Sat on some prehistoric stones for tea, had a good chat, drank Laurent's wine, Ron killed eight flies(!) and we went home via Ashbury and Uffington.
