Tuesday 3* Evening Ride 3*
Nick Dunton
Start Time:
6:30 pm
Start Location:
Relatively short this evening [36.8km] but hilly. Out through Denchworth and Goosey. Climb to Kingston Lisle, then Blowingstone. Back over Hackpen and the Letcombes.
Gathering storm clouds caused some apprehension at the start but we got round dry. A blustery wind slowed progress in places, particularly climbing Hackpen from Lambourn, but generally we maintained a good pace throughout. Harvesting had started on the downs above Letcombe with a toxic cloud of dust and chaff blowing across the road to the discomfort of those of us who wear contact lenses. Thanks to Jon for sweeping the ride.
