Tuesday evening 1* Ride | 1* |

Leader:Steve Swanton |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:This week, a longer but essentially flat loop around the Vale visiting Denchworth, Charney Bassett and Stanford-in-the Vale, returning via 'Park Lane'. A round trip of about 14 miles. Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

We took a break on Stanford church green beside the church, a most pleasant spot. I would thoroughly recommend a walk around the churchyard next time. Tonight the long grass (set aside for wildlife) and a large chestnut tree were beautifully back-lit in the evening light. Approaching Park Lane, we found the road to be closed for resurfacing. Nothing ventured... we started along it to see whether we could get through, soon coming up to recently laid but dry tarmac. Lovely. Further on, the old road had been partly scraped away in preparation for the new surface, so a few lumps and knobbles to contend with, but nothing as bad as some of our potholed town roads. We were soon through to Goosey Wick without hold-up. Back in Grove about 8:15 after a most relaxed ride. Thanks everyone for coming and to Martyn for unofficial sweeping duties. | ||
