Looking back I see we had 9 people on the January ride last year and 11 the year before, so I was slightly surprised when people kept turning up, by the time Sue and Mavis arrived the rain had stopped and we totalled 22. I was begining to wish I'd notified the pub that we'd be coming for lunch!!We hadn't even got as far as Hanney when I heard a sudden hissing from my front tyre, so I handed the map to Kevin who continued to lead the ride(Thanks Kev), With Steve's help my pucture was quickly fixed, and along with Laurent and Richard who had also waited we started the chase to catch the main group, we rode at a fast pace (at least I thought it was!) through Haney, Fyfield, Appleton and Farnmoor, before eventually catching the others up the far side of Eynsham, we continued through Church Hanborough and down the muddy lane to Freeland and eventually up the hill into North Leigh, due the large numbers out, half of us ate at the Woodcutter, and the rest continued to the Saddlers Arms in New Yatt where excellent roast dinners where enjoyed. We continued after lunch via Crawley, Curbridge, Bampton and Buckland. By now Richard was starting to think of cakes and coffee at the museum so made a move to the front and set the pace. We arrived at the museum having completed 50 miles and as we were locking our bikes it began to rain, perfect timing!! Jan | ||
