Description:Today we are marking the 15th Anniversary of the first 'Regular Wantage Ride' our traditional all day touring ride, which has been the mainstay of the club's programme over the intervening years. The success of the initial rides, held on the third Sunday of each month, led directly to the formation of the Wantage Section in March 1994.In the spirit of "Something for Everyone" there will be something of everything and lots of options - so please feel free to join us for all or part of the ride (distances and estimated timings below, if you would like to meet us en route). We will be heading South over the Downs to Lambourn (8.5 miles, arr. 10:30 picking up at Mavis's) and on down the Lambourn valley to Welford. Following the back lanes we will turn South-West to Chilton Foliat and onto Ramsbury (25 miles, arr. 12:15) for lunch at the Crown & Anchor (grid ref SU27871  . We will return to Lambourn (33 miles, arr 14:30) by way of Marridge Hill and Membury, then head out to Ashbury and on to our afternoon tea stop at Uffington village hall (43 miles, arr 15:15). The final stretch will be a flat tour of the Vale back to Wantage via Baulking, Goosey and Denchworth. Total 53 miles return 16:45pm.There will be an optional easy 2 mile off-road section through the Littlecote Estate before lunch (provided weather stays dry) with shorter or longer road alternatives. As you will see from the timings we won't be rushing - pace will be a mellow, slow moderate - there are two major and several minor climbs and three superb descents. |

- 3* - Suitable for experienced riders, may be hilly, long, quick, or any combination! Likely to be half or full-day rides. Challenging exercise.
- 4* - Suitable for athletic riders who can ride safely above the 3* standard. Quick rides for the fit.
