Description:Hackpen again! This time properly – from the bottom through Childrey. So out through Denchworth and Goosey then up the hill, down almost to Lambourne, back over Blowingstone and home via Kingston Lisle, etc. 40 km.Sunset is at 7.50pm therefore lights will be required for this ride. |

We crossed Challow railway bridge for the last time before it is closed for an electrification upgrade next week. We cut-out the descent to Lambourne and ascent over Sevenbarrows because it was thought there wouldn’t be enough daylight to get back in semi-light. Instead we turned right at the top of Hackpen, descended to the Springline road and picked-up the intended route at the bottom of Blowingstone hill. However, on the way back we made such good time that we eschewed Cow Lane and added some extra distance by going along to Northmead Lane and west back to Denchworth for the traditional procession to Grove. Thanks to Janet for keeping the back of the ride under control – I wish I could say I did the same at the front but, in honesty, I spent most of the time grovelling in the peleton! Great ride guys – roll on April 2015. | ||
