Tuesday Evening 4* Ride | 4* |
---|
Leader:Andy Cowan |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Weekly 1.5-2 hours ride at a riding pace of 25-29km/h (16-18mph). May be hilly.End of season chance for a bit of fun for the good climbers and descenders that fancy going for a PB or 2 and for the rest of us to get a bit of practice. Into Challow ,up past the cricket club, drop into Letcombe, up Court Hill, down Manor, up Chain, a right a few miles on to cut back to the Shefford road back towards Wantage and down Manor again, Challow and flat to Denchworth for a pint. Obviously lumpy so if you`re one of the fittest bring your sarnies, there will be a bit of hill top waiting to do ! Saying that we will need to get a wiggle on due to the light, please make sure to bring yours. Optional stop at The Fox in Denchworth at the end of the ride. |

Riders:Adam ClarkAndy Cowan Frank Schroer Jason Jones Nick Fisher Nick Stokell Phil Ward Riders = 7 Weather:Report:Perfect. The rain stopped, the sun came out, we didn't get lost, no mechanicals, a decent route for a change and all 7 riders went for a pint!Everything went to plan, some aggressive climbing with a couple top 10s from Nick and Adam, the Manor descents paid us back for the immediate Chain climb just after the drop down from the Court Hill effort, but no problem for anyone. The Newbury to Shefford road cut through was the highlight as the sun came out as we blasted down the slight drop all tucked up tight behind Franks lead-out, a free fast blast, just my sort of cycling. Determined to be at the Fox by 8ish we held a good pace before another fast drop by most, down Manor then out through Challow and a sprint to the bar for 8.05. It's always good to get a new rider but even better when they come the week after so a big welcome to Adam. For me it was the last 4* of the season (but please support the last one next week) and it has been very satisfying to see the new riders join the Club, 3* riders feeling comfortable joining us and the way 4* has evolved as the season has gone on. What has made the difference is that although we do have a wide range of abilities all the riders respect each other, there is no problem waiting to regroup. no egos, just like minded cyclists out to enjoy themselves. Thanks everyone and particularly Messers Smith, Hall, Talbot, Stokell and Jarv for sharing out the leads to ensure we completed the programme for the whole season. 50ks,av 18ish | ||
