Off Road Ride | 2* |
---|
Leader:Robin Tucker |
Start Time:10:00 am |
Start Location:Goring, Manor Road / Long Meadow SU 59959 80297 |
Description:This is a great ride for twisty singletrack in the woods around Woodcote. Not too much climbing - not none, but a bit less than average, and the two main climbs are quite close to the start of the ride. Also there is are major hazards along the route, as long as you can steer around the trees. That all makes it a route that has proved popular in previous years with riders of a wide range of abilities - everyone can enjoy swooping through the woods, and the faster riders find the turns come more quickly which keeps the challenge levels up. We re-group at the end of each section, which doesn't take long, and no-one gets lost in the woods. Top tip: don't wear your darkest sunglasses in the woods! --- General description: Monthly off-road ride for those who like their rides bumpy and (sometimes) muddy on second Saturday mornings. The rides will be about 20 miles, mostly off-road, and aim to finish in time for a late lunch (whether together or heading for home). We adjust the ride to suit the riders and the weather, but in general the terrain will be rough, so a mountain-bike in good condition and with knobbly tyres is recommended. |

Riders:Jerry PrideNick Stokell Robin Tucker Riders = 3 Weather:Report:Trails in perfect conditions before the rain this week, and not too hot. We headed out east and up the hill into the woods. Then worked our way round clockwise to Woodcote and the long slightly downhill run through the woods.Even the section just before Mapledurham has improved in quality after many years of having been churned up by forestry operations. All capped off with a run along the Thames. | ||
