Report:A wet and slippery ride to Lambourn and back. We lost Norman in the Market Place, when his chain came off as soon as we pulled away, on the dash back into the Market place to find him I missed him, and then dashed up to the Lord Nelson in my search. By the time I returned to the Market Place, David had found Norman and Simon who thought he had missed us had found us. So it was 13.40 before we left Wantage. Five of us finally took part, including a new rider Vince Buckley, to whom a warm welcome is extended.Because of the rain some of the surfaces were very wet and slippery so we made slow progress. After travelling along the Ridgeway to Blowing Stone Norman left us to go home I think he was so close to home at Uffington that his tea beckoned. The rest carried on stoically with some of us falling off several times, by the time we had returned to near Gramps Hill David had to leave to get home for an evening engagement so we were down to three. We arrived back in Wantage at 6.30, some what bloodier and a lot muddier than when we left, but we all enjoyed a great ride with some wonderful views including rainbows and views over the Vale with crystal clear air.
