Report:A circle around Stanford in the Vale.As we'd had a particularly dry summer, I thought it was probably a good opportunity to explore The Vale. From Wantage we went via the newly "upgraded" track to West Lockinge and through to Ardington, before crossing the A417 to pick up Ardington Lane, crossing Cow Common. We then crossed the Steventon Road along the route of the old Kennet and Avon canal. It was pretty overgrown on some of these tracks so it was a relief to turn left and meet the A338. We then took a track to Garford where there was a longish road section to Charney Bassett where we took the bridleway to Pusey. After a few more bridleways, falling off, bending a mech hanger and getting lost we got back to A417 just south of the A420. A selection of the bumpiest bridleways and smooth tarmac brought us to Hardwell Lane and White Horse Hill. A quick ice cream at the top and we were good to go. One made dash across the Ridgeway and we were back in Wantage. | ||
