To avoid Grove and Denchworth and so as not to arrive too early at Millets, we took a roundabout route at relaxed pace. Intitally we headed East out to Lockinge and then north over Lains Barn. We were somewhat surprised to find ourselves being overtaken by a fleet of vintage cars along Grove Park Lane. At the A338 we turned left to Hanney, through both villages and then right to Lyford. Right again, then through Garford to the A338 and left at the cross-roads to Millets.Liz and Jane were already waiting for us at coffee. We were soon joined by Team Hickman and then 4 from Oxford including newcomer Elaine from Iowa. Diane took her leave to cycle home. After a relaxed stop, we headed out to Bampton via Charney Bassett, Gainfield and Buckland. Once there , there was a great inspection of maps to decide on the route back to CB for lunch. Having agreed that the ford at Duxford would be impassable after all the heavy rain, it was decided to retrace our steps. Edith and Brian were waiting for us on the village green and were amused to spy the main group turn left at the T-junction to head off in the direction of Southmoor. | ||
