This evening Kath and Jan will take us on a journey through route planning. From basics to the more creative, covering the resources available and the use of planning tools and gadgets. Something for everyone to help us get the most out of our riding. Do join us.A recurring Zoom link has been sent out to club members by email. She provided some useful hints and tips for those planning club rides and noted the wide range of routes available through the club website. Jan also shared some of the sources of inspiration she has used to plan routes when cycling away from home. None of us were surprised to hear that the multi-volume "Britain's Greatest Cycling Climbs" was a particular favourite. Both Kath and Jan highlighted the value of tapping into local knowledge, whether it is using routes published on other club's websites, Audax routes or searching for popular routes on Strava heatmaps . Kath took us through two of the online tools that she uses: Cycle-travel and Rideswithgps. The use of googleman to access Streetview directly in RIdeswithgps was new to me and will definitely be put to use. So there certainly was something for everyone. | ||
