Join the ride from Eynsham and then you will be back at the village hall in time for the main celebration event at 3pm-4:30pm.Parking is free all day at the public car park, 57 Back Lane Eynsham, OX29 4QS, almost opposite the hall. |

Description:As part of the celebrations for the Centenary of Cycling UK / CTC activity in Oxfordshire, this is a club ride to join the party at Eynsham.Our outward route to Eynsham is via Lyford, Fyfield and Cumnor, dropping down Tumbeldown hill to Farmoor and then crossing the Thames over Swinford toll bridge (free to cyclists). We'll aim to arrive in good time to meet up with other groups at Eynsham Village Hall for the start of festivities at 3pm. These are expected to last up to an hour. The return route is via Stanton Harcourt, Northmoor, recrossing the river at Newbridge, then climbing back into the Vale to Southmoor, over the bridleway bridge and home via Charney Bassett. Expect to be back in Grove by 5:45pm. A round trip of about 35 miles. To make this as inclusive as possible, we will ride at a steady 2* pace (12 mph, 19km/h) , but may split into groups depending on numbers. Description:This year sees the centenary of CTC/Cycling UK activity in Oxfordshire. The Oxford District Association (DA) was formed by a group of local CTC members in 1924 and many thousands of rides and events have been enjoyed by generations of local cyclists since. The DA was the parent for all the current Cycling UK member groups in Oxfordshire: Oxford City (including Isis Cyclists), Oxfordshire Midweek, Wantage and Wallingford, as well as former groups in Bicester and Witney (West Oxon).To mark the event all CTC/Cycling UK members past and present are warmly invited to join us for a Centenary Celebration at the village hall in Eynsham. In CTC tradition, refreshments will include Coffee, Tea and Cakes... Proceedings will start at 3pm and last up to an hour. Do wear club kit and in particular vintage Oxfordshire kit if you have it. To register for the event please sign up here, (this is the same form as for the century ride the day before). There is free parking in the Back Lane car park (57 Back Lane, OX29 4QP, with public toilets), which is less than 100m from the village hall. There is limited disabled parking outside the hall itself. |
