This is a route that starts and finishes on familiar routes but after coffee at Fairford takes in unfamiliar areas. We will go north east to traverse a trio of Amney's before picking up the White Way. Lunch will be in Northleach, with the final third of the ride being reasonably flat (unlike the morning!). Please let me know before Friday lunchtime if you are coming so I can finalise lunch arrangements. Report:Splendid days cycling. The first part to Fairford was on many familiar roads and we swiftly arrive at 7a Coffee Shop which not only had a lovely garden but also very tasty coffee, cakes and vegan sausage rolls! The roads to lunch were mainly unknown but all agreed lovely. We knew the stretch before lunch would be hilly and boy were we right! Thanks were given to very patient, encouraging motorists who stopped and turned there engines off to allow us to inch our way past them on some interesting parts of the steepest hill and to the driver who stopped at the bottom of the next hill to allow ascending to be accomplished without pressure. The Prison Cafe at Northleach had very good food but overwhelmed staff due to the numbers that had descended on them. We enjoyed sitting in the sun whilst waiting for our food. After lunch the hills gave way to lighter descents and an interesting intermittent headwind. A final climb up from the Thames to Faringdon, the navigating of the one way system and we were done. Thanks to a lovely group to lead ![]() | ||
