Description:A gentle ride to the green at Goosey and back via Denchworth, a distance of around 8.5 miles. It can get cold in the lanes on April evenings, so please wrap up; gloves recommended.Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Our leisurely and sociable Tuesday evening 1* rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of 10-15 miles (16-24km) at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph (13-16kph), following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

Report:A lovely mellow start to our new season of evening 1* rides. There was a keen north-easterly breeze but we were all wrapped up warmly, the sun was shining and we enjoyed some golden evening light casting long shadows as we cycled along.We negotiated the road closure by the Denchworth Road/Barley Way junction on the pavement and then expected to have the closed road to ourselves. A few boy racers chancing their luck seemed to have other ideas! We stopped briefly by the Fox in Denchworth before continuing on to Goosey green with the wind behind us, eventually turning off at the far end down the track to Goosey pond - sadly looking rather bare of vegetation with all the rushes removed. I had the option of an extra loop via North Denchworth up my sleeve. Finding that we were all happy with a gentle pace into the headwind, we agreed to take it and make the most of the sunny evening. Eventually back in Denchworth, we stopped for a rest by the walnut tree and waved to the 2* group as they approached the Grove turning from the other direction. A few minutes later they were followed by the 3* group. We were back in Grove just before 8 and sunset. Thanks all for your good company on an enjoyable ride. | ||
