Description:This evening we'll explore some of the back routes in Wantage before continuing to Lockinge and Betterton, returning to Grove via Lains barn (12 miles). Lights recommended as the evenings are drawing in.Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Our leisurely and sociable Tuesday evening 1* rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of 10-15 miles (16-24km) at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph (13-16kph), following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

Report:Lovely evening for a ride!Temperatures had eased a bit, which made ride more comfortable. Were able to enjoy the sunshine, without - I think - getting too hot! Leader waiting at the start and wondered where the other two were.... then realised they were waiting amongst the "throng" of riders on the other rides(!). Set off to meet Tim en route, but due to a road closure, had to adjust the meeting point... all linked up in the end. Pleasant weaving through back streets of Wantage, before heading out of the Route 44 to Lockinge....always a very pleasant route with the countryside, albeit with large expanses of brown grass. Oh, do we all dream of some rain........ Plenty of time for relaxing an chitchat along the way, culminating in the lovely descent past Lains Barn.... always lovely to just roll down a hill with no effort..... Thanks all for your company. | ||
