Saturday afternoon ride from Grove | 2* |
---|
Leader:John Tranter |
Start Time:1:00 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:A ride of about 38 miles (60km) at a fairly leisurely pace. Heading out through Denchworth and Goosey to Uffington, Fernham and the Coxwells. Then we have a nice descent from Faringdon, across the Thames to the rather idyllic villages of Clanfield and Bampton. Tea stop at Aston Pottery will depend on the time, the weather and how much darkness is gathering by then! Home via a little hill at Buckland, Charney Bassett and Denchworth again. You are strongly recommended to bring lights! |

Famous last words.. at Goosey the sky went black and we rapidly progressed from torrential rain to a full-on hail storm. Two riders sensibly turned for home, the rest (not so sensibly) decided to carry on. Fortunately, after about 30 minutes the rain died away and we headed into better weather. After that excitement, the rest of the rode went according to plan. We stopped for tea at Aston Pottery and headed for home in what was by then a very pleasant Autumn evening. Particular congratulations to Sara on her first weekend ride and Neil on his first ride of any kind with us. | ||
