Saturday afternoon ride from Grove 3*
Leader:
Nick Dunton
Start Time:
1:00 pm
Start Location:
OMH
Description:
I’ve been asked to keep this fairly short so that family riders can get back relatively early for bonfire night celebrations! Prompt start at 1.00, therefore and no refreshment stop! Mostly good roads; cycle-paths between Abingdon and Sutton Courtenay and SC and Didcot are well-paved. No significant hills. We’ll be aiming for a brisk average pace of c. 25 k.p.h.

Should be back in Grove by 4.30 p.m. at the latest. Lights will be required, however, in case of unexpected hold-ups.

Route: Grove, Denchworth, West Hanney, Southmoor, Longworth, Appleton, Cumnor, Abingdon, Sutton Courtenay, Didcot, Harwell, East Hendred, Ginge, East Lockinge, West Lockinge, Grove. May vary last piece, depending on speed of group and lateness of hour.

Report:
Good ride - no problems. Rain held off but a little chilly. Roads greasy with lots of fallen leaves - felt very autumnal. Nice to welcome two new riders - Bill Flockton & Michael Brooke.
Distance:
64.50 km (40.08 mi)
