Tuesday Evening 3* Ride | 3* |
---|
Leader:Iain Kent |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:This weeks ride will head off through the Letcombes up Hackpen Hill and then on towards Lambourn. After a nice long descent we turn right before Lambourn and make our way back up to the Ridgeway on the scenic route via Seven Barrows. We then carefully descend Blowing Stone Hill and make our way back to Grove via Kington Lisle and Goosey. This will be approx 23 miles and should be a great spring time test of the legs! Being a slightly longer route we will leave OMH promptly after 6.30pm. Lights would be advisable. We'll be collecting £5 voluntary donations from riders over the next few weeks to cover our costs for the AGM buffet and the website. Bring your wallets if you'd like to donate - it's the only source of income the club has. |

Riders:Adrian WestChris Walters David Smith Ginny Henderson Iain Kent Janet Charleston Jenny Williamson Maurice Bawden Mike Pinches Nick Dunton Philip Thornton-Evison Sorrel Williams Riders = 12 Report:The group of 12 riders enjoyed perfect weather for this hilly 23 mile route completed in 1hr 45. Unfortunately Maurice punctured at Letcombe Regis and decided to complete his own ride. After a short stop at the top of Hackpen Hill the group were rewarded with the long downhill section towards Lambourn. The pace increased after Kingston Lisle and what Chris described as a "spirited dash" to the A417 last week, turned into a team time trial practice for some of us this week! There was an impromptu "sprint" entering Grove which was taken by Chris although hotly pursued by Nick! I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the scenery this week with everyone working hard and keeping together. Many thanks! | ||
