Saturday afternoon ride from Grove | 2* |
---|
Leader:Chris Walters |
Start Time:1:00 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Ride out at a standard 2* pace, via Steventon, Sutton Courtenay and giving Didcot a wide berth to Blewbury, where we will stop for tea either at the garden centre there or at Chilton, before heading back on the road via Ginge and Lains Barn.A slightly longer ride than usual, but the first 2/3 of the ride is flat and we have the option to shorten a little after the tea stop if anyone needs to. Lights recommended for the end of the ride. |

Riders:Adrian WestAndy Belcher Brian Hipwell Chris Walters David Smith Edith Hipwell Guy Yeates John Stamp Robin Tucker Ursula Hallam Riders = 10 Report:Good to see a decent number so early in the year - mention must be made of Andy's lovely new bike and his fear of having a "not unclipping" moment, which fortunately did not come to fruition on this ride.We picked up Guy barely before we had picked up speed, and gave Robin a tow back to Steventon (note to stats compilers - need to deduct at least 45km from Robin's total for the year!) The next noteworthy moment happened after Appleton, where Guy's bike decided to stop working, so he left the ride. Bless, he's not got a great record of finishing Wantage rides... Folks were pretty much gagging for a stop when we got to the garden centre in Blewbury, and that meant that we'd have a hill directly after tea. We had a split on the way back with a couple of folks returning via the A417 and the rest tackling the Col d'Ginge. All in all, a long but rewarding 2* ride, made all the better by the start of the summer. | ||
