Sadly no newcomers this year, but Kerry did claim to be getting back-on-her bike due to all the recent wintry weather. It was raining only gently when we started, and although the rain persisted throughout, was never too heavy (and unlike last year, no hail and it wasn't cold). We rode the route as planned, taking a brief rest sheltering under the trees by the church in Lyford and an enforced rest for a puncture stop just entering Stanford. This was my first puncture in something like 3 years. ... We had already decided that rather than stop at the shop we would continue to the Fox for refreshments in the dry. However, it was something of a surprise to find the pub closed (now from 2pm on both Sat and Sun). So we continued back to Grove and several came back to our house for tea - thanks to Robin and Kerry for the lovely cakes purchased from the bakers. Thanks to everyone for coming and making it such a convivial ride. Roll on the Spring! Steve | ||
