Description:This is a re-run of last year's special route into the centre of Oxford. Nice, easy pace through Charney Bassett, Appleton and Cumnor, down the hill to Botley. Then the cunning car-free entry to Oxford via bike tracks and beautiful river sides (suitable for all bikes). Private venue tea stop courtesy of St Aldates church in the very heart of the city, opposite Christchurch (with catering from perhaps the best coffee shop in town - Cafe Loco). Then along the river path to Iffley, Kennington and back via Sunningwell and Fyfield. 40 miles - a longer 2* ride, but easy terrain and an easy pace. Don't miss this one! |

Fortunately, it was wrong! Very humid at times, but we got away with it until the final 5 minutes (which didn't seem too bad). The secret route into the centre of Oxford was as wonderful and appreciated as ever. We had the added bonus this year of picking up delicious cakes from Cafe Loco before enjoying tea, coffee and lots of cold water in St Aldates church.Oxford was swarming with thousands of tourists, but after lunch, once we forced our way through to the river towpath, it was surprisingly quiet as we enjoyed the riverside riding to Sandford Lock and then up to Kennington. A sub-group then headed off for Abingdon and Didcot, and the rest of us had a pleasant and uneventful ride back to Grove. Thanks to everyone for great company and a great ride! | ||
