Riders:Barry BakerDavid Brown David Yearley John Davies Richard Anstis Richard Pethybridge Robin Tucker Riders = 7 Weather:Report:Warm and sunny - I haven't said those for a while! And it was great to have our numbers up to 7 due to the return of Barry and the new appearance of John. We took the classic Crabs Hill route out of Grove. Apart from a couple of deep muddy puddles on the bit near the canal, this has now dried out, though is still very bumpy. Then past the Nelson and along the cyclepath and on to Ardington. North a bit, west a bit to the Ginge brook and we climbed up zig-zag hill via the track opposite the stables. I'm not sure this particular track was a great idea of mine as it was very bumpy - a common feature of trails at the moment. From the top, we had a great view in the lowering sunshine and Richard P insisted we get some photos - which I have to say are well worth it. We then headed east along the Ridgeway, squinting into the sun a bit, until we got to the top of the descent. The first bit, contouring through a small woods was great fun and much faster than when it's wet and slippy, and the main stretch down to Goddards Brook was fast, flowing and terrific. We reassembled at the bottom and made our way back via Charlton and Crab Hill once more. No punctures and lengthening evenings meant that our lights were almost un-needed. | ||
