Description:Off-road ride around local tracks, usually about 15 miles. Knobbly tyres and good lights required. We are keen to welcome new riders and have spare lights available to borrow if you let me know.Dark, cold and wet - we'll ride in any 2. But please let me know if you are coming so I can tell you if I decide to cancel due to really bad weather. Optional stop at The Fox in Denchworth at the end of the ride. |

Report:A group of six braved sunshine, light breeze and mild tempratures to find a new off-road route to the Fox.Following the route of the canal we headed west until we reached the far side of East Challow where we turned up Cornhill Lane. It was then right at the top along the B4507 to avoid the very rutted section of Green Road before cutting left onto the byway to Letcombe Regis. Sights were then set on the Ridgeway, with Castle Hill being the climb of choice today. A brief pause at the top to admire the view (...OK, to catch our breath and recover) we continued along the Ridgeway for about a kilometre before zipping off to the right for a loop around Parsonagehill Barn/Flint Farm. Rejoining the Ridgeway at the top of Gramp's Hill we chased the sun as it started to set, crossing over the Lambourn road and continuing on the Ridgeway the other side. At the cross roads of byways we turned left down a fantastic chalky descent across Sparshold Field, then on the road via Westcot, Sparsholt and Childrey, down the bridleway to West Challow, then road back to Denchworth with a customary sprint finish to the Fox.
