Leader:Robin Tucker |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Off-road ride around local tracks, usually about 15 miles. Knobbly tyres and good lights required. We are keen to welcome new riders and have spare lights available to borrow if you let me know.Dark, cold and wet - we'll ride in any 2. But please let me know if you are coming so I can tell you if I decide to cancel due to really bad weather. |

And the weirdest bar-ends you've ever seen. It did of course throw its chain in the first mile through the houses! After dark mutterings, Richard managed to keep it together for the rest of the ride - I think by avoiding first gear! Needless to say, with Richard having limited gearing and no suspension, I picked the hilliest bumpiest route possible! We went up Lark Hill, then west and up Manor Road to the Ridgeway. Then headed east, pausing to admire the view in the sunshine at the Baron Wantage memorial. Onward to the Ginge singletrack descent, already signposted for Saturday's Uptonogood. I'm glad to say that the surface has improved in recent weeks and it is now lots of fun if you have a little suspension. (And, as Richard proved, teeth rattling if you don't!) At the bottom, we turned right, meeting the 3* ride just before the 'bridge of doom'. We all made it across - Richard a bit more nervously than usual! Then back through Ardington and Charlton, and it was still daylight on our return at about 8:30. All told, a very pleasant ride. Having dried, the tracks are hard and speedy compared to earlier in the year. | ||
