Tue Aug 6th 2013
Tuesday Evening 3* Ride 3*
Leader:
Louis Hall
Start Time:
6:30 pm
Start Location:
OMH
Description:
Ride out through the Vale with opportunities to tackle a couple of familiar hills "the wrong way round", before zooming back to The Fox for well deserved refreshments.

Note that both Dragon Hill West and Hackpen are proper category 4 climbs - we'll pause at the top to admire the views.

Given that it's now getting dark a little earlier, we will need to choose which hill to make optional.

Long, hilly, quick - or any combination!

Distance 35-45 km (22-28 miles) at a pace of 20-22 km/h (13-14 mph) or slightly faster if flat. May include hard hills.

Optional stop at The Fox at the end of the ride, and please bring lights for the return journey.

What with optional hills and an optional stop at The Fox, decision making is being shared on Tuesday!
Riders:
David Talboys
Hugo Pile
John Tranter
Louis Hall
Nick Dunton
Riders = 5

Weather:
sunny intervals
Report:
Five of us set out, including newcomer Hugo, travelling at a solid pace through Denchworth, Goosey, Baulking and Uffington.

As we tackled the climb up from Woolstone, Hugo snapped his chain, so he had to retire to the pub at the bottom of the hill.

That left four of us to climb West Dragon Hill, zoom down the other side and crack along the B road back towards Wantage. We turned off to go through West Challow and on the Fox, where we were the penultimate group to arrive.
Distance:
37.50 km (23.30 mi)
