Description:Club weekend to do two classic 3* hilly loops. Wild rivers, mountains, harbours, big climbs and descents. 70km and 80km rides.Day 1 will be a tour of the Moelwyns, heading under the shadow of Snowdon to Beddgelert and then down to Porthmadog before climbing up to Blaenau Ffestiniog and then down the Lledr valley to Betws-y-Coed. We might do a side excursion up some hairpins to a reservoir along the way, if legs are feeling strong. Day 2 will be a slightly easier day around the classic circuit of the Glyders, heading up and then down the Ogwen valley dropping across to lunch at Caernarfon, and then the awesome climb up the Llanberis pass - unmissable! Arrive campsite (arrange yourself - url below, plenty of local alternative B&B) Friday evening, ride Saturday and Sunday, return whenever... Contact Chris if you want to know more. |

Riders:Jasmine TalbotMatthew Talbot Tracey Talbot Riders = 3 Report:Chris, David and Ursula managed to get a sneaky ride in up to the Pen-y-Pass cafe before an evening meal at the Tyn-y-Coed Inn. The Talbots arrived just after Jan drove past, complaining bitterly about the midges on the campsite. After a natter and a noggin, all seemed fine though. They were right - midges all around. Stealth mode (and covered up like bee-keepers, the tents were entered rather swiftly... Saturday dawned still and cloudy. The ride report for this and Sunday will be in separate entries, but suffice to say that both were stunning scenery and quite tough challenges too! The non-riding Talbot family members entertained themselves woven the two days with trips into (Marchlyn Mawr) and up (Snowdon - train) the mountain with a bit of beach thrown in for good measure. Saturday evening meal was taken in the bustling tourist haven of Betws-y-Coed and was as ever, a very chilled affair. Overall then, plenty of tough riding, some lovely socialising, and lots of trophy midge bites to show for it. | ||
