They then overtook us while we were admiring Best Mate in Lockinge. However, the yo-yoing then ended when they took a wrong turn (oops)...My concerns that the afternoon's rain might have affected conditions on the Ginge farm track proved unfounded - it was as dry as a bone. We were soon enjoying the descent into East Hendred. To keep everyone on their toes, I took a detour around some of the back lanes of this pretty village, before resuming the 'normal' route along the busier A417 and Featherbed Lane. After a fast descent of Steventon hill, we turned left into the Causeway and continued to the school where we stopped for a 5-minute breather. We made good time back across Cow Common and with lightening skies to the West, took the longer route home through the Hanneys and Denchworth. Although we hadn't had any sunshine, the ride remained dry and the verges and hedgerows are just about at their verdant peak. Thanks everyone for a mellow ride. | ||
