---|
Leader:Steve Swanton |
Start Time:2:00 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:The Sunday afternoon tea served in St. Mary's church, Uffington is something of a local institution during the summer months and is an ever-popular destination for CTC Wantage riders. Please join us for a leisurely ride of about 20 miles at a easy pace of about 10mph to sample the tea and homemade cakes. We'll be following quiet country lanes through the Vale of White Horse with only a few minor ups (and one nice down). visiting the pretty villages of Charney Bassett, Hatford and Shellingford, returning via Baulking and Goosey. We'll stop occasionally for a rest and for anything interesting that catches our eye. All welcome, although children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult, please. |

A very pleasant afternoon ride to Uffington, where we enjoyed large slices of cake, washed down with ample tea sitting in the churchyard.I was concerned about extra traffic taking a short cut through Goosey to Denchworth due to the closure of the A417 bridge over the railway at Challow station. So we split into smaller groups for this stretch on the way back. There was noticeably more traffic than usual, but fortunately, it wasn't excessive. | ||
