Our monthly off-road ride for those who like their rides bumpy and (sometimes) muddy. Held on the second Saturday of each month, we start from various locations to take in some of the best tracks in the south of the County.

This ride again goes from Crowmarsh, starts with Grim's Ditch and covers a similar area down to Goring, but using many different tracks to the May one!

Each ride will be about 20 miles, mostly off-road. The terrain will be rough, so a mountain-bike in good condition and with knobbly tyres is recommended. We aim to finish in time for a late lunch (whether together or heading for home).

Setting off up Grim's Ditch we immediately encountered hundreds of joggers on the 100km Race to the Stones coming the other way. Yes, 100km!

So we picked another route, only to find ourselves joining the flow of the runners on a later part of the route. So, the original route plan went out of the window and I started improvising with the aid of memory and my trusty OS map.

It ended up with a pretty brilliant route (if I say so myself) which included a tough rooty climb, twisty singletrack through the woods and a fast and fun descent down Mongewell Woods.
