Leader:Steve Swanton |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:A few ups and a great descent on our ride this week. We'll head into Wantage along the A338 cyclepath then turn into Charlton and negotiate the estate to reach the start of Sustrans route 544 off Larkhill. We'll follow route 544 into Lockinge and then turn uphill to reach the top of the Lain's Barn cross roads. We'll swoop down into the Vale but instead of turning back to Grove, will turn north to East Hanney. We'll continue to Denchworth through West Hanney. A round trip of about 12 miles back to Grove.Optional stop at The Fox in Denchworth at the end of the ride. Please bring lights if you plan to stop at the pub. Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

We stopped to look at the Lockinge fire engine and then decided that we fancied a slightly longer ride with some views, so continued up the road through Lockinge, turning off onto the estate road just beyond the small business park eventually coming out on the Icknield Way just above Ardington. Here we were passed by a group of about 20 young girls cycling up the hill. More to come... | ||
