Description:A slightly longer ride this week heading through some of the Springline villages to Sparsholt, where we'll stop to have a look at the historic church with its unusual wooden effigies.We'll ride out through Stockham and after a short stretch on the A417 to East Challow, we'll join the track and bridleway to Childrey (its mostly paved but with a short stretch of easy off-road that's a little rough) from which there is a great view over the Vale. We'll rest by Childrey pond before continuing on to Sparsholt. On the way back we'll retrace our steps almost to Childrey before turning down the lovely long and gentle descent to Challow station. Back to Grove via Goosey and Denchworth. A round trip of about 14 miles. Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |
