Report:The warmest day of the year saw 4 of us out and headed for the Ridgeway. We went up Crab Hill, which is nicely dried out in all except one place, then Lockinge and Goddards Brook. For a change we went straight up the 'Jolly Green Giant' hill. It's a sign of fitness improvement that all of us made it up there without running out of puff. I remember failing this not too many years ago! Then we went off the back of the Ridgeway down Ice Valley (with a short pause for John to fix a puncture). Up again to Betterton and we felt conditions were good enough to try the Ginge descent. I'm glad to say that this has improved a lot since autumn, and is now very rideable though stutter-bumpy in places. For a challenge we not only went down the bridge of doom, but tested ourselves going up it too. I smugly report that I was the only one who succeeded Then back via Lockinge and Crab Hill, where I caught caught in a rut.
Distance:25.75 km (16.00 mi)

Well done to Robin for making the climb up the Bridge of Doom drop. I tried and failed four times! I'll now be practising... |
