Description:Monthly 16-32km (10-20 miles) family and social afternoon rides, usually with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 13-16km/h (8-10mph). Occasional short or gentle climbs.Regrettably, this morning's ride is CANCELLED due to the inclement weather forecast. Note a week earlier in December than our usual 3rd Saturday, and also the change in start time. I'm proposing to move the ride to a morning slot so that we can try out the new Coffee Corner in Childrey, which shuts at 12:30. We'll take a loop around the vale visiting West Hanney, Charney Bassett and Goosey before the gentle climb up to Childrey. We'll return via the metalled bridleway and track to East Challow, enjoy the descent of the Portway to Ham Road and return to Old Mill Hall using some of the off-road cycle routes through Wantage and Grove. Round trip nearly 18 miles, back in Wantage about 1pm. |
