Description:Monthly 16-32km (10-20 miles) family and social afternoon rides, usually with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 13-16km/h (8-10mph).Unfortunately, due to the high winds forecast for this afternoon, the ride has been CANCELLED. Plan A is a repeat of our successful, watery ride from 2 years ago, heading northwards to Duxford, the lowest ford on the Thames, where we'll stop for a paddle. The ride will head out via Denchworth, Lyford and Southmoor where we'll cross the A420 on a bridleway overbridge. We'll cycle through Longworth, past the beautiful church and manor house and continue into Hinton Waldrist on an easy bridleway. We can then enjoy the short descent into The Thames Valley . After visiting the ford there is a short climb back into the Vale , but this is on a very quiet road (cul de sac) which everyone can take at their own pace. We'll stop for a picnic tea on the green by the church in Hinton Waldrist. Please bring something to sit on and refreshments. We'll return via Charney Bassett and Denchworth. Round trip about 19 miles. |
