We headed out through Denchworth and West Challow and then via Childrey dip towards Letcombe. Kev riding fixed for the first time. Disaster struck when June's chain broke and then became entangled in her wheel, bending her derailleur stay. She managed to 'scooter' from the bottom of Hackpen Hill to Letcombe, guided by Brian and myself. Just as we reached Holborn Hill, Steve B. returned breathless with a chaintool after a mad dash to catch up with Edith, who had the tools (is there a moral there?). After several attempts we managed to fix a single gear repair and June was able to cycle home. Meanwhile Edith took half of the remaining group up Court Hill.
