Description:Monthly 16-32km (10-20 miles) family and social afternoon rides, usually with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 13-16km/h (8-10mph). Occasional short or gentle climbs.A change of starting point this month to Didcot to allow us to tour some quiet routes and pretty villages in the eastern Vale. We'll start from the Halfords car park in the Hadden Hill retail park off the A4130 as you head out of Didcot towards Wallingford (parking is free; the space to the left on entering the car park is usually empty). See: https://haddenhill.co.uk/ for location. We'll head into Didoct to pick up NCN route 5 to the Wittenhams, then turn south through the Moretons and the Astons en route to a refreshment stop at the Style Acre cafe at Savages garden centre in Blewbury. After a short stretch along the A417, we'll return to Didcot on NCN 544 across the old railway embankment from Upton, with lovely panoramic views across the Vale. A round trip of about 18.5 miles. |
