Description:PLEASE NOTE THIS RIDE STARTS FROM OLD MILL HALL IN GROVE, NOT WANTAGE MARKET PLACE!Half day ride (45-55km / 30-40 miles), with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly. Might be a struggle for new or irregular riders in winter months. We will make a day of it for a 64 mile ride at 2* pace. Out from Grove to Highworth. The across to the North side of Swindon to view the housing development (!) because I like the route from there around into the water park and on to South Cerney. We then head over towards the Windrush and back home skirting Faringdon. 9.30 start from Old Mill Hall expected back late afternoon Tea / lunch stops planned at Highworth and the Cotswold Water park with options later if we wish. |

Admittedly the rain had stopped but the wind decided to face us all morning. None the less we headed off towards Highworth and were rewarded for our efforts with a great cafe stop.The meanderings around north Swindon are always interesting but if you have to build lots of houses they have done it well at Tadpole and we were soon into the open country and lanes around the Cotswold water park where we also had lunch. Finally with the wind behind us we enjoyed some quiet roads toward Lechlade and then onto skirt round Faringdon. It was lovely to have the wind at our back for the return journey home. Well done to Clare for her longest ride and to Richard for taking most of the wind in his face. | ||
