Description:
Half day ride (45-55km / 30-40 miles), with a tea stop, at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly. Might be a struggle for new or irregular riders in winter months. This is a pre-bookable ride. To book a place, text your name to the ride leader no earlier than 9:00am on the Sunday before the ride. You will receive confirmation or be advised that the ride is fully booked. A reserve list will be maintained.

A half day ride out to Little Wittenham of approx 37 miles. A flat start out via Drayton and Sutton Courtney will ensure we are fully warmed up before the first hill of the day. The return sees us head back via North Moreton, Aston Upthorpe and Hagbourne before joining the cycle route from Harwell into Ginge and home via Lockinge.

NB There is some off road tracks which were fine on my road bike if a little bumpy. There are no cafes on route so please bring your own refreshments.

A beautiful morning for a ride, and so delighted to see Callum out for the first time since lockdown , along with Karen Bunting , a first time rider with the club. The weather was fine and dry if a little chilly at the start. We started off at a comfortable pace along the flat through Drayton, Sutton Courtenay and Appleford before heading into Long Wittenham where we had a short break before tackling the first hill of the day up to Wittenham Clumps. Here we enjoyed the terrific views, companionship of the cattle and red Kites, and a break for sustenance before enjoying the sweep downhill.
