Description:Monthly 80-100km (50-65 miles) all-day touring ride, lunch and possibly tea stop en route, at a riding pace of 18-22km/h (11-14mph). Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing almost inevitable.This is a bookable ride for up to 10 people. Please let me know if you want to come and see below for link to menu. Please note change to starting place, now The Beacon, Wantage. We'll follow familiar roads through Childrey and Uffington then past Great Coxwell, Coleshill and through Highworth before looping round to the lakes at Whelford/Fairford where we'll have lunch at the Magic beans cafe at 34 miles. The cafe overlooks the lake and has both indoor and outdoor seating. The cafe has asked us to pre-order the food so they can serve us promptly and altogether. The link to the menu is below. We'll then go through Fyfield, Thrupp, up Littleworth Hill before crossing the A420 and back through Charney and Grove to Wantage. 61.5 miles (98.4km - so there might have to be a slight detour added in somewhere to get to 100km!) and 700m of climbing so a reasonable ride that shouldn't be too tough, no matter what the weather is like. A new cafe (to me) to try, they do a range of lunchtime food and the menu can be found on the website below: https://www.magicbeanscafe.co.uk/about-us/ As the cafe has asked us to pre-order, please can you let me know for certain if you're coming and your menu choice by Friday 19th August. |

Report:The weather was a bit humid to start with but it soon turned into a good temperature for cycling. The cafe - Magic Beans cafe - was a new one to the group and is highly recommended. There was lots of room, a good menu and good, friendly service. They had asked us to send in our order beforehand for a large (8-10) group, but found just 4 no trouble.Good scenery and a great group to cycle with. | ||
