Easy-rider Saturday Ride from Grove |
---|
Leader:Chris Walters |
Start Time:1:00 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:We'll be doing the route of the Tuesday evening "Fast and Furious" - a nice flat route out to Watchfield, and back to Grove for tea at the Cornerstone cafe - 46km or just shy of 30 miles. We'll not be doing a "fast and furious" pace though, just one that everyone is comfortable with! The route is here: http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=6038.Lights may be required for the journey back from the tea stop if it's a dingy day! |

In the event, we had 17 riders, a great mix of old-timers and newcomers. Welcomes to Alex, Mila, David and Michael!A very uneventful ride into a headwind to Watchfield, with a very visible weather front looking very ominous from the west, but fortunately it stayed in the west for the duration of the ride. Kevin and Tom joined us just after the A417 on the way to Baulking. For the first part of the ride we kept together very well, only to be broken around Fernham, requiring a bit of a chase to rein everyone in! Then we had the chase to the tea stop at the Cornerstone in Grove, sending out an advance party to stake a claim to our seats before it closed and myself and Steve helping the stragglers home. A very welcome cuppa followed! Big thanks must go to the more experienced members who "buddied up" with the newcomers. Overall a mellow ride in nice conditions.
