Hello everyone
Rides Programme
Even though we have experienced some random snow today, let’s hold on to the idea that it is actually spring. What that means for us is that our Tuesday evening rides programme is about to kick off once again – next week! Our weekly programme of rides, including 3* and 2* road rides and the off-road option, all start at 6.30 next Tuesday, taking advantage of the increased evening daylight. The 1* programme will join in two weeks time, when we have even more daylight to play with. Of course we shouldn’t forget that the weekend rides and the Thursday morning rides have been brilliant all through the winter and they continue as normal. We may add extra rides as we go forward, to cater for demand.
Behind the scenes, our Rides Secretary Steph and our Webmaster David have been working hard to upload the rides programme for the coming season to our website. 1* maestro Steve Swanton has also been fine tuning that aspect of the overall picture. So we now have a pretty comprehensive rides programme all the way through to September. Please browse through the many choices available – just a few of the highlights include a bluebell special, an Easter Thames extravaganza, a mad Mayday sunrise ride, the Blowingstone-White Horse Audax, a New Forest weekend away, a seriously bonkers midsummer solstice ride, an Isle of Wight day trip and a French battlefield weekend tour.
Oh, and did I mention that the fourth Tuesday of every month is pub night, where all the rides converge back on the thoroughly wonderful Fox at Denchworth?
Ride Leaders
We had an extremely positive meeting with almost all of the ride leaders at the beginning of March, where we confirmed this programme and filled in a considerable percentage of the ride leading slots. The Committee wants to give a massive thank-you to all of the Ride Leaders – this is the heart of the club and we are only ever as good as the Ride Leaders – fortunately they are VERY good!
AGM – Monday 25th April
A date for the diary, with more info to come. We will be holding our AGM on the evening of 25th April to look back at a complicated but slightly less bonkers year than the one before. The venue will again be the Challow Cricket Club and we will plan the usual food provision.
In summary, it’s all going to be amazing and I very much look forward to seeing as many of you as possible out on a ride very soon!
Best regards
John
