It has been great to finally see some sunshine and also really nice to share lots of rides with many of you in recent weeks. The summer programme is in full swing and this email is mainly to highlight some special activities next weekend – the Cycling UK Oxfordshire Century Ride and Centenary Celebrations. It is the 100th anniversary of CTC (now Cycling UK) presence in the county and so a series of events are being held to celebrate this milestone next weekend:
SATURDAY 3rd AUGUST
Annual Century Ride, based in Abingdon
– this will start at 8am in Abingdon Market Square, and have two options: 100 miles, and 75 miles (a bit more than a ‘metric century’ at 120km).
– morning coffee (25 miles) Thame, Lunch (50 miles) Woodstock, Tea (75 miles) Abingdon, all at great cafes, then an optional further 25 mile loop back to Abingdon.
– recommended parking: Rye Farm Car Park, on A415 just south of Abingdon Bridge, OX14 3NN. £5 for the day, pay by cash or card.

SUNDAY 4th AUGUST
Main Centenary Celebration, based at Eynsham Village Hall, 46 Back Lane, Eynsham, OX29 4QW
– at 11am, a 35-40 mile ‘Not the Midweek Ride’ will leave from the Hall to lunch and back.
– at 1pm, a 17 mile 1* ride for those wanting something more gentle will leave from the Hall
– other rides will be heading to Eynsham from Oxford, Wantage and more
– see our website for details of a planned ride from Grove to the event (leader and details not yet confirmed)
– all riders to Eynsham Village Hall for 3pm for the Centenary celebrations including food and drink – feel free to travel and arrive independently
