Hello everyone
The sun is shining and the new club season is in full swing. I want to give a brief update on the recent AGM and then take the chance to highlight a few things coming up.
AGM 2022
It was great to see so many of you live and in person (and not in lycra) at Challow Cricket Club for the AGM last month. It was a very positive and supportive evening. The new Committee was voted in and so this now comprises of:

A particular welcome to Andy and Lizzie as new Committee members – we are very much looking forward to new ideas and fresh wisdom!
I should also reveal the results of the two prizes we award each year:
– Best Club Person of the year: Karen Townsin (with particular reference to the lockdown and beyond turbo sessions)
– Best Newcomer: Terry Ryland
Upcoming
The club calendar is pretty well defined through to September and there are lots of treats in store. One recent addition to note is the club century ride (and that’s a century in miles, not feeble km’s). This is set for Sunday July 10th from Islip. It is always a landmark event in the club year.
I should also let you know that the Women’s Tour of Britain professional cycling race is passing right through our patch on Saturday 11th June. See details below:
The race will start in Chipping Norton around 11am and will then pass through Cherwell and West Oxfordshire before entering the Vale by crossing the River Thames at Radcot around 12.50pm. The riders will then race through many of our towns and villages in the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire before finishing in Oxford at 3pm.
Please check the website to view the full estimated route timetable. Please note – the times are subject to change and are being provided at this stage to help inform any local events planned to mark the occasion.

Here are the approximate times we expect the race to reach each town on the route in our districts:
• Faringdon – from 12.55pm (roads closed from 12.40pm)
• Wantage – from 1.30pm (roads closed from 1.15pm)
• Didcot – from 1.50pm (roads closed from 1.35pm)
• Wallingford – from 2.00pm (roads closed from 1.45pm)
• Abingdon – from 2.35pm (roads closed from 2.20pm)
We are still working out whether we can put on some specific events around this, but in any event it will be a guaranteed great experience to catch up with the race as it passes through.
